Recently, my motherboard (ASUS P4S533-X) was tampered with and we sent away for a new one with the warranty. I had a guy at my local computer shop install it. I brought it home and the sound isn't working. I have tried several sets of speakers/headsets to test sound and none work. The sound is on blast on both the speakers/headphones, and the Volume Control in the taskbar. I used the CD that came with the Motherboard to install the Audio drivers which normally works fine, but now it does not. I have checked and made sure that nothing was muted. The drivers that I installed via disk were AD1980 AC'97's. Installation went smoothly, but still no difference. Any suggestions?

For those of you that find that this may help, here are my computer specs:
Intel Celeron 1.7 GHZ Processor
512MB DDR PC-2700
Radeon 9550 256MB DDR
20 GB Hard Drive
ASUS P4S533-X Mobo
Windows XP Professional

sounds like you have an on-board sound. it is possible that the audio setup in the bios settings is disabled so you need to access the bios and enable your audio from there. to access your bios, please refer to the mobo manual.

hope this helps. peace! [peace]

open up system manager and check that the device is recognised correctly...

and try opening up the advanced audio properties and making sure the 'wave' property isn't muted or turned down, I make that mistake far to many times for my own liking.
