Hi

Has anyone heard of the following error message which appears numerous times in my event viewer:

"The PfModNT service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified."

I have done a search on Google, which did not return too many results all I can find is that it is something to do with Creative Live! soundcards. What is it and how can I fix it?

Also I keep seeing something about "redbook" telling me my drive does not support digital audio playback, I think saw a setting for this someplace once, but can't remember where it is. How can I also stop this appearing in my event viewer?

Thanks

This is one of XP's services. Start, Run, services.msc
Find PfModNT in the list, double click and look at the 'Path to executable'. This will at least tell you what file it's looking for and where it should be. Then check the manufacturer's website or your installation cd to see if you can find the file and put it back where it belongs.

Also, search your system for the executable - it may be there, just moved to the wrong place.

To enable Digital audio playback go to...
Control Panel\systems\hardware\device manager\cd/dvd drives and your drive. In the pop up select properties and there you go...

Thanks for the responses, I can't find the executable either on a search or in the list of services. Might try taking another search on Google for a while.

naiku,

I had the same problem. Try This:

Right click My Computer - Manage _ Service Application- Services -
Look for : Creative Service For CDROM Access if it is disabled (mine was) right click - properties -
change start up to automatic - apply -Ok

It worked for me !!
