sound recording problem with the creative extigy

Ok the problem is when I go to record guitar tracks the first one records fine. But then I check playback while recording not only does it record from the line in on the creative extigy device it also records every sound that the computer makes. I just want it to record from line in and not the track that its playing back. Does anyone know how I can just single it out and record only from line in and have it not record any other sounds the computer is making?

You should be able to set this in the Creative Mixer application (I'm assuming that this software ships with the Extigy, of course) CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

In your software mixer, mute everything but line in and see if that works. Please come back and let us know if your
problem is fixed and what fixed it!!

Ok forgot to say windows 98. But I just found what I was looking for. I went to the common speaker icon and went to file then properties>checked recording and everything in the box below. The options to check below were "what I hear, wave/midi/cd/microphone/line-in" Guess what...the what I hear was selected. SO I put it on line in and thats just what I need. Now instead of recording what I hear I only record from line in. Perfect for the guitar. Now I can work like I am soppossed to. Cant belive I didnt see that one. :smacks self in head:
