I have a file which has the sound codec "AC3-Tyr" I have not heard of this one.
Any ideas what it is and where can I get it?

Look for a program called "Sherlock.exe" by marc@updatexp.com <marc@updatexp.com> (free)
It checks all your codecs. You may have it and it is defective.

Thanks for the tips.
I already had Xvid but re-installed it, but to no avail.
Ran afreeCodecVT to find the correct codec and it came up with FAST Multimedia AG DVM (Dolby AC3).
Searched the net , but cannot find it.
Any more ideas!!

Loretta

Hola,

try this direkt link to one Codec Pack I found...

Warning! this is around 41 MB of download... but it has about every codec that you will need in the future...

ftp://download.axelero.hu/pub/multimedia/video/kodek/acemcp600propr19.exe

If it works don't fix it! If it doesn't use a sledgehammer...

also a good reference site for codecs-related issues:
hope this helps. peace! [peace]

Do not install codec packs that provide you with every codec imaginable. A lot of the hacked codecs, well, don't work so good, and will show adverse effects running other programs. Search google for "ac3filter", there's an open source project somewhere out there that is what you likely need.

Thanks Guys,

After using Sherlock.exe, I found that nearly all my video codecs were corrupt.
Don't know how this happened but re-installation of some of them did help.

Thanks again,

Loretta

Do you have sound on other files?

what progie are you using to view this file?

is your Sound possibly turned off, or the driver corrupt? might need to reinstall the sound driver?
