Hello
Im running windows 98 SE - I have a creativelabs Sound blaster 512 sound card. This card has a line in - mic - & 2 line out ports(1 for the front and 1 for the rear) My 1st problem is i want to record a tape onto my hard drive then burn it to a cd(simple enough) when i run a line from my tape deck to the line in on my sound card and play it - the music comes out of my PC speakers like it is suposed to, but my capture software will not capture it (music match jukebox) I have the software set up to use my sound card in line and everything.(also the windows sound recorder dosent recognize the sound either) They will however recognize the mic but this way has too much feedback in it. How can i get the line it to work in my recording programs ??

2nd problem - sound card has 2 lines out for front and rear speaker system - only 1 of them work (this is the front speaker port) I have the correct drivers and everything used to work ???

The only change i have made is installing direct x 9 !! could this be the answer to all my woes ????? This seams to be around the time the problems took place - i notice that microsoft has a updated version of direct x 9 (B) but im scared now :)

any help would be great :)
Thanks in advance

On Music Match set your recorder option to "System Mixer" instead of "Line In". I had the same problem with Music Match. Line In doesn't seem to do anything. System Mixer works, and you can adjust your record volume with your system mixer.
I don't know what your speaker problem is. There is probably an option for your sound card for surround sound.

Check the soundblaster docs for the line out issue. I think you have to set something for this to work. (it's not on by default)

why dont you try going into the Volume control (right click on the sound icon on the bottom right hand corner of your display), click on options -> properties -> recording, put a tick on your line in and click ok. after that you'll see a panel of volumes that also will include your line in, make sure it has a tick on Select. Adjust the volume for you to hear any input from your line in port.

CL SB 512 may have a different customised panel, but this suggestion is based on the many times I have accessed different PCs' sound properties. It may or may not help, do forgive if I'm giving a suggestion which does not help.
