sorting records from EM - not!

If I am in Enterprise Manager, and open a table (say, 'return all rows', for example), there are two Sort icons on the toolbar: A->Z and Z->A.

Why are those icons always grayed out and unaccessible?

In EM do the following.

Right click on table
OpenTable
return all rows
click on the small icon show/hide grid plane
check the column names u like to sort. the AZ and ZA will be enabled automatically

I'm trying that, doesn't seem to do anything for me. Icons still grayed out. I will keep trying, I guess?

Hi,

I think after u get the rows u want u should click on show/Hide Diagram pane and then select a column by checking the column then Asc and Desc buttons r enabled and after u select the sort order u have to click refresh button again.

Hmmm, that seems to mostly work. It does then sort by my column, but it seems to do it by adding a new Expr column. Is that the way it works?
