Can you sort by formula results? If so, how?

Yes, you can sort on formulas, except
for aggregate formulas such as sum, count,
etc.

If you are indeed dealing with an aggregate
function, describe the situation in more detail
if you want alternative methods to achieve what
you are after.

Specifically, I am divididng 2 running totals that are in the Access database...how can I sort on this value without going into the Report Expert?

Thanks

How can I sort by a variable stored in my table without utilizing SQL server commands? Basically I want to store the sort order in the table, have Crystal read this value or values and then sort based upon the variable.

Thanks

Please clarify the situation; "variables" and "Running Totals" are not stored in the database tables.

I meant to open up a separate thread. This issue with dynamically assigning the sort order is separate from the sort by the running total...however I am looking to store a value in my table to determine the sort order eventually.
Reference the 1st post.

Thanks

Wus-

If you want to sort based on the group subtotals (not the formula) of your report, you need to run a top-N report. You have an option of showing the top N number of groups, and then can include all others as a lump sum, or exclude all other groups.

Does that answer your question? Software Support for Sage Mas90, Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

I am getting the correct data in the formula, however I do not know where I can invoke the sort...ie it doesn't show up in the drop-down list of fields to sort by.

Thanks
