Some options missing in imported ADM file

We've imported system.adm from XP SP2 to 2000 server, however, when we go to:
Admin Templates\Network\Network Connections\Windows Firewall\Domain Profile or Standard Profile the 2 options for Define Port exceptions and Define Program Exceptions aren't there, even though they appear in the XP box. Why is this?

cos it doesn't know about them......

2000 does not have the possibility to change these because they dont exist in 2000.

Are you wanting to use them with GPOs or in local machine policy?

if it's GPOs, install GPMC on your XP box and administer the server with it from there, that way you can use these policy settings in GPOs to apply them to machines on your network runing XP SP2..

If it's local machine policy on your server, in a word, you can't (ok, in 2 words...)

Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't make much sense to me. Windows 2000 doesn't have a windows firewall - so why does it display any of the options then? Why does it even display windows firewall in the hierarchy of the GPO if it doesn't know what it is. Also, windows 2000 doesn't have remote assistance, but that's still visible. Surely it just "reads" the info from the system.adm file? So I don't quiet understand, would you mind clarifying?

the .adm file is a template.

you open the template with windows 2000.
i think it shows the family of options eg firewall, remote assistance, but the actual options in the family are not available cos w2k does not have the registry keys that the options modify.

why have you imorted the XP adm file in the first place? Are you trying to do something specific?

OK, after having a look through the registry on our 2000 server and my XP box, I think I understand what you're saying. We did manage to Define a test port exception yesterday by connecting to the GPO object from my XP box, but shouldn't it display in my exceptions on the firewall then?
