Ok here's as much background info as I can gather:

Web Server: Windows 2000 Server SP3 and IIS 5.0 with all service packs, .Net runtime 1.0.3705
DB Server: Windows 2000 Server SP3, SQL Server 2000 SP3

Client 1: NT4, IE 5.0, no .Net runtime installed
Client 2: Win2k Pro, IE 6, .Net 1.1 installed
Client 3: Win2k Server, IE 5, .Net 1.0.3705 installed
Client 4: Win2k Pro, IE 6, .Net 1.1 Installed
Client 5: Win2k Server, IE 5, .Net 1.0.3705 installed
Client 6: Win2k Server, IE 6, .Net 1.0.3705 installed

Display correctly
Client 1 & 6

Will not display with the following error messge:
"Operation is not allowed with the object is closed."
&
"ASP 0113(0x8004005)
The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded..."
Client 2, 3, 4, & 5

The part that I can't seem to figure out is why the web site will come up correctly on some clients and on the web server itself, but will not come up on other clients.

Anyone have any ideas?

It seems to be bombing on the ADO command.

It works on the server, and on some clients as noted above but not on all clients. Does anyone know why this might occur, or has anyone seen this before?

how about some code so we can see exactly where and what is going wrong?

Is there a known issue with naming an IIS Server with an underscore in the middle of the name? Once again this is for an INTRANET application.
I'm using a cookie to store a few things, and I noticed that on the majority of the clients no cookie was being written. When I did find a client that a cookie was written for, I noticed that it was only writing the first couple of letters for the server name until it reached the underscore.
I tried connecting to the server after this discovery with the ip address and everything works fine.
Has anyone run into this issue before? Is this a known issue?

Thanks for ya'lls time and help.

underscores in NETBIOS names has always been a issue because the underscore is an invalid character in DNS names and the default host name will be the NETBIOS name.
