well 1 down, 1 to go! my XP problem solved. after getting inside there i discovered that i had serious trojans ie; reg, dir., things were a mess. in the end i choose to take it back it the beginning and re-install windows. it was a little scary but worked like a charm. thankz to all of you very nice people for all of your help. now on to fix the "ME" [peace]

Glad to hear it's fixed, the first time I done it was Win95a, ahh the memories of all those disks (somthing like 48 of them). At least DOS 6.2 and Win 3.11 only had about 8.

Just remember if your going to help other people or reinstall again. Always make sure you have Device driver disk, or backup device drivers, backup mail either .dbx files or .pst including export contacts to .csv, backup all data, favorites, My Docs, and ask the user if there are any other programs he uses e.g Fax settings or database, skype which you can backup, etc.
