Solaris file descriptor limit..

Hi,

I am looking for some information on appropriate values for the file descriptor limit (rlim_fd_max) on solaris 8.

The SUN site says the following "A 32-bit program using standard I/O is limited to 256 file descriptors. A 64-bit program using standard I/O can use up to 2 billion descriptors."

What does that mean? Ours is a Weblogic 7 based web application on solaris 8.

I am a novice in this area.. Please help me out..
