Hi there,

In Solaris 8, the output from the who command is :

> who
user1 pts/2 Jan 12 13:48 myserver.com

In Solaris 9, I no longer get where the connection is coming from, therefore, making it difficult to set the DISPLAY in the users profile.

> who
user1 pts/2 Jan 12 13:48

I have looked at all the switches and both the /usr/bin/who and /usr/xpg4/who commands. Any ideas?
TIA

I've just edited the hostnames/domainnames

Code:

Last login: Mon Jan 3 13:26:14 from spqr.[i]mydomain[/i]

# uname -a
SunOS walmart 5.9 Generic_112233-08 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-80
# who

oracle dtremote Jan 10 08:36 ([i]hostname[/i]:0)
# exit
Connection to walmart closed.

Thanks for the feedback...I suspect it's in my hardening. I will track it down and post the resolution.

I tracked this problem down to a patch bug. The 113273-08 patch broke the who and last commands from populating the ip/hostname. Patch 113273-10 fixes this issue.

It was only happening on my Solaris 9 servers as this patch was only for Solaris 9's SSH.
