I was trying to setup my SOHO6 to route a custom port (31099) over to one of my computers (PVR Box) at home for access across the Internet. The custom port mapping should have been no problem as I have PPTP going to a server already and HTTP going to a different box, etc, etc. But for whatever reason the SOHO6 would not allow traffic on port 31099 to flow through.
After a little investigation I discovered that anything from port 29000 and up will not pass through a SOHO6 (ver 6.3.2). So I swapped it out with an Edge X5 running 7.2.1, and wouldn't you know it, same thing. I upgraded the Edge to 7.5 just to be on the safe side to no avail. Below is the error logged for incoming only:
discard from EXTERNAL_IP_ADDRESS port 48411 to EDGE_IP_ADDRESS port 31099 TCP SYN (default)
If I attempt to connect from inside to the outside address I get the following:
discard from INTERNAL_IP_ADDRESS port 4049 to EDGE_IP_ADDRESS port 31099 TCP SYN (port not available)
If I change the service to use port 28999 or lower, it works, but that is not an option in this case (nor should I have to). So does anyone know how to overcome this problem with either the SOHO or the EDGE? Much appreciated.
