One of our customers has a SOHO3/50 that appears to be working in all aspects except Management interface. Attempts to open web browser to LAN IP address result in "Page can not be displayed" message with "Can not find server or DNS error". SonicWall responds to ping and internet access OK. I am not on site but have remote access so I know port forwarding is working. Have tried accessing interface from multiple computers with same result.

Any thoughts? Any help is appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

What operating system are they using?
Are the workstations dynamic or static?

This probably won't help you, but I throw it out there anyway. I had a similar problem with our sonicwall, I was able to get around it by taking my workstation off its TCP/IP automatic configuration and by manually configuring it to a static IP on the lan. If you are not using dynamic, then this won't help at all.

Thanks for the reply specialsauce1.

The workstations are a mix of Win2K Pro and XP. The servers are Win2K Server and Win2K3. The workstations are dynamic and the servers are static.

Internet access is not an issue. All computers can access the internet with no trouble. That is not the issue. The issue is that I was trying to update the SonicWall configuration and I can not bring up the web interface to the SonicWall. Attempts to browse to the SonicWall's LAN IP address result in the "Page can not be displayed" message. It responds to pings at the LAN IP address but does not open the Management Interface. I've tried it both from a workstation (DHCP) and a server (static) with the same result. We've also restarted the SonicWall with no success.

Interesting...I am having the same problem. While in the Rules section of the Sonicwall yesterday I deselected a rule I did not use anymore, and inadvertently deselected what I believe was the HTTP Management rule for LAN access. Obviously, as the update was applied, I no longer had access to the Management console via the LAN (we are all static here). It seems to me that we are both having somewhat of the same problem. My only thought here is to "reset" the SW and reflash/reconfig. I am still researching the issue. If you find something on your end, please let me know.

joepc,

Yes, I tried that and numerous other combinations of URL's. No success.

Lack,

I don't see why it should make a difference but yesterday I tried putting a "Sonicwall" entry in the Host file and used the host name in the web browser. That worked. ANd it has been working both with and without the host name since then. Go figure! I think your issue is going to require a reset to default and reconfiguration. Best of luck.
