Hi, everyone!

My father used to work as a consultant on his own, until he got a management job on a big corporation. That was on the early 90's.

Until then, he had been using MacProject and MORE for his planing needs. He specially liked planing using PERT charts, and getting Gantt charts automatically.

He's working on a small start up at the moment, since he isn't in management any longer. I've been trying to help him get something with this functionality, but I'm no expert in the area (not even a beginner, to be honest).

We realize now, that almost every PM software out there relies on Gantt-entries for planing, and he he's not willing to do that (for a number of quite logical reasons, including that it's a lot more work and half as fast).

He listed me some of the features he's looking for, from which two are a must:

1. Scheduling has to be via PDM (Precedence Diagramming Method)
2. Scheduling has to allow so set durations and resources for each task. It also has to have intelligent conflict solving capabilities (i.e. adjusting durations based on available resources).

The only software I've found, which runs on a modern OS and has this functionality is MicroProject X-PERT. But it's 4000£ and looks quite primitive.

I'd love to read some suggestions from you, guys!

cheers from Germany+Argentina!

MS Project does PERT. They now call it network diagram. TurboProject does network diagram, and can do it time scaled, is much less expensive.
