Hello everyone,

I have installed the Avaya IP softphone version 3.2.3.0
My baby switch is a 3Gsi V9.5
I created sta 1889 as an 6408D+

I get the following error when I tried to log into the softphone.
"The extension you tried to log into is supported as an IP Station, but IP capabilites have not been enabled for this station by the system administrator"
This is my first IP softphone (as you'all' can see..) and I can not find in which page do I have to make changes to enable this extension...
Please help me! I am going nuts to figure what is the command that I need to make changes...

Thank you.

zulma,

As well as 1889 being a 6408D+ you need to setup another station of type H.323 (let's say 1890).
This station has to be associated with 1889.

Change station 1889:
On Page 1
Media Complex Ext: 1890
IP Softphone: y

On Page 2
Multimedia Mode: enhanced

If you have problems adding the H.323 station it will be because of RTU.

Are you using the Softphone as Telecommuting or in Roadwarrior mode? If you only use it for telecommuting you don't need another extn created. You just need to enable IP Softphone on the station form plus H323 conversion and enhanced media capabilities.
All in the station form.

Smells like RTU. Do a display capacity and check page 8 to see if IP stations are available, then check page 9 to see specifically if IP softphones are available. -CL

FYI: with Definity r9.5 and later you do not need to make an H.323 extension anymore, thats one of the greatest things about 9.5 over 9.2.. Also check to make sure you have the RTU's for the IP softphone, and also make sure that softphone is turned on for the extension..

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for replying, but now I am confused?
So then I am not suposse to add an h323 station?
I called our rep to find out if we have RTU for IP softphones.. he said he will find out and call me with a price?.. it is been a week and so and I have not heard back from him.
In the meantime I did what lopes1211 mention and looked at sys cap and this is what I found:

Does this means that I can have one IP softphone?

Thank you again for helping me.

Yes only 1 IP softphone
1 Available IP_Soft, Limit also 1 available.
The Limit is what you buy.

On the "Disp sys cust" page 1 you can find how many
IP stations that may be registered at one time.
On the last page of the "disp sys cust" you can what for
and how many IP_products you can use.

You have 5 available IP_stations (say ports)
And you have 1 available IP_softphone
you have also 1 available IP_Phone (Hardphone)
together 2 IP-Stations (ports)

Page 9 is for the maximum number of registrations
allowed for each IP product.

I have also written a FAQ on this page with an example
of IP-Soft and IP-Hardphone, maybe thats a little help.

above is true you have brought 5 Ip softphone but can only use one at a time. Also check to see if 9.5 capabilities is optioned to yes on the disp sys cust form page 3 or 4 if this is set to yes you do not need a H323 station.

Telephone gurus.. You are rigth!..
I checked the sys capabilities is set to 'no'.. so I have to wait for our Rep.. who is taking his time to find out how much it will cost us to activate RTU

Thank you for showing me the light!
