Win ME on IWIll KK266R with Athlon 1.2 266fsb oc'd to 1.33, 576M Ram; ELSA Erazor X 32M AGP card....if more system info is needed will supply, dont want to bore you, if i havent allready. Anyways, system will go into standby but wont come out, when trying to bring out of standby the system tries to activate, the hard drive spins up and the monitor indicator/power light goes back to "on" but no joy, it tries to come on, but just gets this gray/blue blank appearance...having a hard time trying to describe. Only way to fix is with a hard reset and then restoring the active desktop....this sucks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have had several problems with the advanced power management features of Win ME. The only conclusion I have come to for a permanent fix is to disable all of it. It seems to be the only way to keep Win ME trouble free in the APM department. Just a suggestion from personal experience. If you find another solution please let me know.

I had a freebie microsoft tech support left to use and so far via email the tech has said that my sound card drivers are the problem, told me to go into device manager and disable everything under the sound and try it out. Not...same thing is still going on. Sent back an email just a few mins ago, will see what he has to say next.

Thnx for the reply, if your interested i'll keep ya posted.

I had the same problem and have found the best thing to do is go to the APM settings and select Never in the Turn Off Hard Drive Setting. That way the only thing that turns off is the monitor and now my system comes alive fairly quickly after I hit the space bar.

Sometimes, however, if I am running a program that occupies the system for a while but doesn't require imput from me, like Norton, using a photo scanner or defragging; the monitor turns off and sometimes the system stalls.

To get around that problem I have added a new Power scheme called Nothing and you guessed all options are set to Never. In The Advanced Tab I have selected Always Show Icon on the desktop, which makes it directly available in Systray and you can change your selection as needed from there.
