I would like to utilize the snmp features for 8i (on NT 4.0). I need to configure two files----config.master (aka master.cfg?) and config.encaps(aka encaps.cfg?). These files do not exist on my system. Would someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Jon

This is a complicated issue. I suggest that you read through document 69625.1 - Intelligent Agent and SNMP integration on NT - on Oracle's Metalink.

Karluk,
I am a bit confused on the following "Install the SNMP master peer agent and SNMP encapsulation agent. "
I am assuming these agents need to be installed from the Oracle Cd's, but of the Oracle CD's I have, I do not find where to install these agents from.

Yes, this documentation falls considerably short in clarity. I think that they want you to install the Oracle SNMP agent from CD. I have both Oracle 8.0.6 and 8.1.7. On the 8.0.6 Enterprise Edition CD, I can select the SNMP agent by doing a custom install, and then picking the SNMP agent from the list of available products.

The 8.1.7 CD is organized a little differently. The SNMP agent is listed under Oracle server/custom install/Net8 products/Oracle SNMP agent.

Try installing the SNMP agent from your CD, and see if that gives you what you need.
