Hi,

I have had a search through this forum for help on getting SNMP working but
haven't found anything that helps me.

I have just started monitoring servers using SNMP so didn't have the SNMP
service installed BEFORE SQL2000 went on any of my servers - I realise this
is the problem. I have got the sqlsnmp.dll file located in <sql>\bin\*.* but
when I goto SQL Network Utilities the SNMP Service isn't there for me to
enable or disable.

Can someone tell me how I can tell SQL about sqlsnmp.dll and therefore get
the SNMP service working with SQL (it is working fine for W2K).

Thanks.

Pete.

You might want to reinstall the current service pack. I know that when I patch a machine here (we have SNMP enabled) it needs to update the SNMP service.

That might help kick it into gear.
