This is a g3r v10
The errors are on multiple SNIs and point to SNC problem.
The visual indications on the SNCs are both have green leds lit stdy and slot 02E12 has steady yellow (active?) where the switch shows 02E10 as being active similar to mikeydidit's post from above thread.

"At one time (around V6 to V8), their was a problem with the switch node clocks. The switch would see the standby as active and the active as standby. The way to resolve was to "sta swi" and look at what the switch sees as the active clock. Then look at the cabinet itself, and see which one was active (yellow light on the active). If it is running on the board the switch sees as standby, pull the active SNC board and that would swap it to the right board. That is what it took to resolve this, and yes I had to do this quite a few times until I went on to later versions of software."

Before being on site and looking at the leds I had tried testing boards, busy and release 02E12 and set switch node clock which aborts and "try later".
There have been no service interruptions as yet and am a little nervous just pulling the board in 02E12 to force it to the one it thinks is active.
Would this cause a service outage?
Any thoughts or comments welcomed
Thanks
Les

Thanks for reminding me how old I am now Les.. [smile]

The system was setup by design to have two switch node clocks so if one went down the other would take over. So forcing one to take over wasn't service affecting. The info I posted then was what tier 3 had me do to resolve those troubles. If I remember right I ended up replacing those packs for a higher vintage to finally resolve those problems. And like you, nothing else I tried worked.

P.S. I miss my G3R

Post on what you find when you do get on-site.

Thanks for your input Mike
I will post results on Mon. or Tue. when given access.

Funny how "old" will make you laugh and cry if you study on it too much.

You get passed both.. {smile]

Thanks Mike
Customer has requested Monday the 25th due to things they have going on this week. I will update when done.

Mike was exactly right, pulled card that was visually active and the active light came on the other instantly with no service interruption. Reseated stby all led's normal before I could walk back to the SAT all alarms cleared.
Really helped having the benefit of your experience with this Mike.
Much Thanks!
Les

Glad it went smoothly for you Les. That was one of the few flaws that I found in our old G3R. Those will probably be around longer than i am..

Mike, you did know that there is a disturbance in the Force every time a G3R is powered down for the last time or converted to an 'S' server, didn't you?

PBXTech, I know their was in my equipment room when mine was upgraded.. I started on V1 with the first G3R in the state, so we had a history together. I almost shed a tear when I was removing the PPN carrier for my upgrade.

It's funny now looking back to the old days (AT&T and the Demension 2000 before then) how data guys and telephone guys did their jobs. We liked each other, don't get me wrong but their was no "sharing" equipment like this is today. I never would have thought it would be where it is. Now instead of being the "phoneman" I guess I am just another server guy..

was the Dimension 2000 the one with the wood-grain cabinet?

No, the "Electronic version" that came out years after it did was called the System 85. Talk about a PITA to work on, but bullet proof. The system 75 went on to be the G3's.

I still miss the System 85/G2. Remembering the comical way the G2 pretended to be a definity/generic when "Change station 1234" would take 2 minutes to come up as you saw the couple dozen S85 PROC commands scripting at the bottom of the screen. That grey softback manual was like my bible working the MAP panel flippin my flashcards. :)

Dimension flipcharts for D100, D400 were proc 00 to proc 99
D600, D2000, S85 were 000 to 999. G2 used mgrii SSB electronic flipcharts with scripts. prelude with Braemar tape drive and Horizon size cassette tapes.

CACS and RMATS II, smaap, maap, lmaap, vmaap scripting and child processes could be written and modified to read and write into the software tables. Those were the days.

Before that was S25 with silent 700 thermal paper terminal and horizon B, C, D, E with CAU and SAU

I am sure these were even before Mike was out of High School

Hell the system i was working on was installed 15 years before I got out of high school Brett.. LOL . Boy I really miss those old Proc commands.. NOT. Anyone remember "processor suicide" ?? Or was I the only one lucky enough to be locked out of the standby for 20 hours at a time?

Thanks for the good Ole memories guys..
