SMTP Relay not working...

I just noticed this and i have no idea what is going on. Apperantly the exchange server is not relaying any messages outside of the enterprise. I can email internally, but when i try to send emails outside the enterprise it just sits in queue. When i click on the queue that has the message it says "the remote server did not respond to a connection attempt."

Its been working and i dont know why its not anymore. I dont see any errors in the event log and the SMTP server is still running. I did restart it to see if that helped but it doesnt. The server hasnt been restarted and i know that updates were installed on it today but it didnt have to restart. I just happened to have system manager open and i saw that an email i sent a day ago failed to send is how i caught the problem. I even tried sending from a different account to see if it was my account, but no email is going out.

ok... just for spite i stopped the SMTP job for sophos puremessage (spam and antivirus for exchange server) and sent a message and all the messages in the queue went thru. I re-enabled it and sent a few more test messages and they went thru so now that i know what was causes my failed deliveries, i now have to figure out why puremessage was causing the problem.
