Hi All,
I have the latest "SMERL" for S3.0. At school, they had it setup so all the collections were available to open at the first dialog box. WhenI put it on my PC here at work, I had to put each CD in a different directory, so I have to go to View/Preferences when I want to move from switch stuff to application stuff, ie, to work on Symposium docs, etc. Anyone know how to put them all together?
TIA! -Matt

mine cam with a .exe for the install, so i don't have that prob, but with helsman the find usually freezes the screen, causing a restart

John, what version of Adobe are you using. I had the same problem with Adoboe 6.0 and reverted back to 5.0 and it stopped freezing my machine.

Adobe doesn't work with my rls 3 merls, it installs helsman and opens in that (trash) software...

heavnema - I tried to do the same myself, but was unsuccessful. As a work around, I copied each CD to a folder on my PC, and created a shortcut on the desktop to the start.exe for each CD. Not exactly what I wanted, but when I double-click on the icon on my desktop it pops up with a dialog box telling me it's switching the collection to the new directory. Not exactly what I wanted, but less cubersome than changing the collection in the Helmsman app.

Thanks brewerdude; I'll give that a shot. It has to beat going into prefs each time! :) -Matt

I also had problems with the CD and called the number in the CD jacket for technical support. They got me squared away. I didn't have to go through my vendor this time. If you need the number, let me know.

If I'm not wrong you are using Helmsman with this SMERL.

If so, you can do it in this way...

1. When you copy CD1 to your computer only copy start.exe and the collect folder, and make sure you copy theese in a subfolder called db or something else. Now you should have start.exe and collect folder in the db folder. You should also have a lot of subfolders in the collect folder containing docs for different products. (\db\collect\),(\db\start.exe),(\db\collect\s_3_0\)

2. When you copy CD2 to your computer only copy the contents of the collect folder and remeber to not copy mount.dat.

3. In your collect folder you have now gathered all the documents for all the products in different folder. The trick now is to copy the contents of the file in mount.dat of CD2 and paste it in the \db\collect\mount.dat file.

I think this should do the trick. If not I'll try to explain better next time....

Yep - put all your folders into one 'collect' folder, then merge the two 'mount.dat' files basically. Worked like a charm. Thanks again I2007. -M
