Can anyone briefly describe what is required to implement SMDR on the S8x00 media servers?

How do you physically connect the CDR to the media server? Does it need the IP600 system?

Thanks!

The CDR records must be sent via IP. In an S8700 or S8300 configuration you need a C-LAN board (TN799).

On the S8x00 systems you do need a clan card. Depending upon your end device whether it is RS-232 or IP will depend on what additional hardware you do or do not need. If it is RS-232 you need a Terminal server to convert IP data to serial syncronous output. If it is an IP CDR (SMDR) unit then you just do a "change ip-services" command in the S8x00 and put in the output node name which is the IP address of your cdr box and the port number it is listening on. If it's strictly IP you have to have RSP reliable service protocol turned on. If you have an old cdr unit then an IO lan terminal server is required. In the S8x00 the change ip-services command is the same but the IO lan has its own configs. They can be found in the definity guestworks configuation docment which is at Best of luck.

With the S8100 I believe it stores it to a file locally on the hard drive..

At least it did..
