Does anybody know the difference between the Small Office Edtion and the Enterprise Edition (4T+8DS+16VCM), Enterprise looks like the same box as SOE but has 'Enterprise Edition' on the front instead of 'Small Office Edition' ?

Many thanks

There is no thing such as an enterprise edition

If you mean the VCM16 then this is the same box but it has 16 vcm channels instead of 3

But the SOE is end of sale for already more then a year

Neither have I. We've started to see them on the refurbished market. I just chalk it up to the end user buying cheap and as my momma always told me..."you get what you pay for". Buy something odd and less expensive and it is likely to function like something odd and less expensive.

G150 Media Gateway
Based on a similar architecture and form factor to Small Office Edition, G150 Media Gateway targets price-sensitive
customers that do require the benefits of Avaya Communication Manager, basic applications support and local
survivability for small branch offices with 2-12 users.
G150 is available in 4 user and 12 user variants and complements the Avaya range of Media Gateways, including
G250, G350 and G700.
As part of the Large Communications Systems portfolio, G150 relies on centralized call processing, management
and control. This is provided by an Avaya Media Server, such as S8300, S8500 or S8700, running Avaya
Communication Manager software. As such G150 is not designed for standalone or autonomous use as it relies on
an IP-based network connection to the Media Server for telephony and communication services.
IP Office – Enterprise Edition and G150 Media Gateway are available to suitably accredited Avaya Business Partners
only. For further details, contact your local Avaya representative or visit

Was on version 3.0

I found the original invoice (2 years old) in the files and it described it as a 'Small Office Edition 4T+4A+8DS+16VCM'.

Cannot update this unit normally through update wiz. Have to delete files using 'AT-X2 etc.....' then upload using TFTP, I can get this to ver 4.2 but the phones dont work, so pretty pointless upgrade.

Anybody got any last suggestions before this goes in the bin.

What phone's do you use ?
Did you use the 3.2.999 file to go to 4.2 ?
If it is the same a s a VCM16 and 8DS SOE then you should really not bin it !

It is a good thing for playing around !

brunt100, I imagine it will need a step throug the .999 loader that's why it didn't upgrade when you tried, I tried cheating my SOE onto 4.2 by DTE'ing it but although it took it it never worked properly, I had to back through the loader then it worked fine :-)
