Small Network Problem

Computer A (Win2000)
Computer B (Win 98)

It used to work.

Using Realtek 8139 LAN cards with CAT5 cable.

Both computers on same workgroup

In Explorer Computer A can see a network with both computers but only it’s own drives. Computer B
can’t see a network sometimes and when it can , only Computer A’s drives.

Both A and B are set up for file sharing and for Client for Microsoft Network

when setting up a workgrouped network with both windows 2000 and windows 98, consider this: so that windows 98 can see shared folders on windows 2000, you have to log on as a user on windows 98 that is a valid user in windows 2000. Ex.

windows 98 windows 2000
login name win98 <no such user> - not ok
login name administrator administrator - ok

hope this helps.

Thanks....did that....logged in on A as "User" and B as "User". No change. Possible additional clue:

in B (Win98 Machine) in explorer I right click on C drive and go to sharing. I click shared as but then when I try to "Add" I get an error "You can not view the list of users at this time try again later." Do I need to have a name under with Access rights on "B"?
