hello, just looking for some advice or hints here on what can cause bandwidth latency all of a sudden. Our point to point t1s all of a sudden starting to have crappy throughput I would say about 3-4 x longer. When we copy from windows explorer from server to server on the t1 it is slow as all heck. Wondering what could be causing this or what can resolve this. Our isp tested the lines and said that the lines are ok. Now I'm thinking that it must be something on the router or on our internal network. Nothing has changed on that end. Is there anything that we can check for or monitor on the router to help in this? Thanks

The first thing to do would be to do ping testing directly across the line in question and see what the response times are . Then doa trace from one end to the other and see if any of the hops are longer than others. Then do pings test between the two slow points , if these are normal you need to start looking at your servers . If all else fails then you may need to get a sniffer involved.

hey vipergg - the ping and tracerts test look good..like 15 ms...the servers we didn't change anything but the messed up part is that it is taking around an hr. to upload 42 mb on a t1 with no traffic on it when a 30 mb used to take about 25 min. or so.

what we find weird is that file transfer using pc anywhere is the fastest method, even faster than ftp. Do you know what could be causing this?

do you recommend any sniffters out there? thanks for the response on this by the way - it's a baffling situation.
