Slowing down the CDROM spin

Does anyone know where I can get a utility to slow down the spin of fast CDROMS. I have a 52X and its great for installing and transfering files. BUT when it comes to playing games it takes time to spin up and down and can cause some choppyness from time to time. Any info will be great.
