Ok, i have a 2000/xp domain untill recently only had one DC a 2000 advanced server, yesterday i set up a second server, a 2k3 box, as the BDC, and i haven't had it take any FSMO or anything. anyway, while it's booting up it takes forever, it stays at the applying computer settings for a very long time, like 20-30 minutes on start up, and then when you finally log in it takes about another 20-30 minutes. Any suggestions?

Well that sounds like typical symptoms of the servers DNS not being configured correctly but it could have something to do with the 2003 DC being in a 2000 domain.

I would check DNS first.

You know what Jack Burton always says at a time like this...

Yea, i think it's DNS too.....but i'm waiting....to get it up to check...i'm just going to disable dns and set it to my other DNS server for now...
as far as the adprep thing....did that to the letter before i set up the server as the BDC.
