Hi All,

I currently have an IDES 4.6C Service Release 2 installed on one of my servers. However, the system is VERY slow. On the SAP level, all buffers and swaps are fine (e.g. ST02). On the OS level, oracle.exe is using up the most amount of memory (ie. between 145K-155K). The rest are mainly used by disp+work.exe.

Any suggestions on how I can get my system to work faster would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Can anyone tell me where can i get the software and tutorials of SAP for practice.

Thanx

Hi,
The reason that Oracle.exe is taking so much memory is because of the configuration parameters in the init<sid>.ora file some of which are used to deteremine the amount of SGA and other memory values. You state in your post that SAP is not swapping (via ST02) but have you checked the OS swapping/paging? If there is steady and consistent levels of paging -- it could be due to the total memory consumption by either or both Oracle and SAP since it sounds like both are running on the same server.
Second, have you monitored the CPU utilization (via ST06 or Perf Mon)? Oracle and SAP are very CPU intensive applications and can easily cause a machine to become CPU bound.

I hope this helps

Regards,
Dominic Uliano
