Hi,
I have just bought a 2.4gh zeon raid 5 server and installed windows 2000 server. I have approx 20 workstations 15 of which are new and have XP pro installed.
The other 5 are nt workstation and connected to the server fine. The major problem is that the XP Pro machines take about 2.5 mins to log on. The nt4 machine take about 10 secs - no different from when they were attached to nt4 srv.
It is definately not a cable issue as the area has been upgraded recently and the network as a whole is much faster in terms of transferring data to and from the server.
The workstations are of high spec too.
Any ideas why the XP machines take so long to log on?
I have disabled file sync option in XP.
The users are going to lynch me if i don't sort this out fast!!
Please help!
cheers,
jono
Ps. I have AD,DNS and DHCP running. WHEN XP has loaded the performance is very good.
A good fortune may forbode a bad luck, which may in turn disguise a good fortune.
