Good day all,

I have an Exchange 2000 Server with very few users (under 25). If someone in the office sends out a message to "All Staff" so that obviously everyone in the office should get this messsage... we see strange behavior.

Some people will get the message instantly. Some people won't get the message for hours. In other cases (but not all), I've seen where the person can close their Outlook and then open it again (effectively resetting their connection) and then they get their mail.

Were we dealing with a huge volume of mail, or many users, and/or both, then this would make more sense to me - but given our situation, I'm confused as to why it takes so long.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

I would make sure that:

1. On the Exchange 2000 server NIC you are ONLY pointing to internal W2K DNS servers

2. IF you have multiple NICs, try changing the TCPIP binding order

3. I would make sure all clients get DNS from the internal W2K DNS servers, and then set up forwarders on the DNS server for outside DNS

4. apply E2K SP3 if you have not already done so
