Hello All,
I am having some trouble with a DOS-based POS system that we use at my work. The setup that we have is 5 computers running through a 10/100 Ethernet Switch, a Windows 2000 Domain (w/ 2 DCs), Windows XP/98 Clients, and the database is hosted on one of the dedicated Domain Controllers.
Lately we have been noticing some slowdowns when it comes to browsing the database in DOS mode. The problem starting occurring about a month or so ago. The changes that have occurred since then were that I have reformatted both Windows 2000 servers, implemented a domain, and installed XP on 2 of the 3 clients.
I was browsing through some windows articles, and I had tried disabling the TCPDelAcks registry setting on the Windows 2000 Server, but that did not work. I also tried separating 2 PCs on their own private network segment on a brand new switch I just bought. I hosted the data off of one of the Windows XP clients and had the other connect to it, but it was still the same slowness. The data files that this program uses are relatively large, ranging anywhere from 2-150mb. I was just wondering if someone could give me some insight as to what direction I should pursue next. Thanks, and if anyone could respond that would be totally awesome. =)
