New WinXP PCs, Office XP: when closing an Excel (and sometimes Word) document, it can take over a minute to close!! These files are on a small (50 node) NT network, and 98 PCs with Office 97 work fine, and XP PC's with Office 97 or Office 2000 work fine. I have stopped the task scheduler service, and removed the namespace registry key (see but am still having the same problem....not as often though. Some PCs have Office SP1, some don't, some have Office SP2...same problem on all. Any ideas?

Beginning to sound like a broken record. Is Journalling enabled in Outlook, Is Journalling enabled in Outlook, Is Jou.....

If it is, need to disable it.

Forgot to mention that too....No journaling is not enabled...at least I don't think so. From Tools, Options, Journaling button, none of the listed items are checked. So I am guessing that it is not enabled. Is there another way to verify?

Sorry for the delay in responding....that didn't work either. Any other ideas?

Solution found!!! Windows XP Service Pack 1! Installed the service pack and Excel works great now!
