Just finished putting this machine together and ran into a little bother after installing nForce motherboard drivers and SATA utility. Before installing these drivers, WinXP Pro booted up quickly. After installing the software and rebooting, POST goes fine, then at verifying DMA pool data it sits for about 2 minutes before WinXP Pro loads. It loads fine and otherwise all appears well. I used the latest Silicon Image SATA driver from their website, could this be cauing a problem with the SATA utility from the ASUS disk, causing this slow boot? Obviously any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'm using ABIT nf7-s v.20 and with this board there has been some issues with SATA in the bios .
Make sure you have the latest bios for your mb.

I've already flashed the BIOS to 1007, and get the same result. Thanks. Any other suggestions?

no.. sorry not from me , not so familiar with the A7N8X

Try this one. I checked the BIOS version using ASUSupdate after flashing the first time, and it said the new one was there. Lacking anything else to try, I flashed it again loading the same new BIOS. After rebooting, WinXP once again booted up quickly. Not sure what happened with that first flash, but the second time was a charm.
