We are backing up several machines to a Sun StorEdge L20 tape robot with 2 DLT7000 drives attached to local machine but getting very slow speeds. Local machine writing around 8Mbps per head, remote machines writing at various rates from 5Mbps to 7Mbps per head. The amount of data passed over network from remote to local machine during backup is around 50Mbps. Tape robot is attached via SCSI and literature quotes 12Mbps compressed. How can I establish where the bottleneck is & what rate the SCSI card is/should be passing?
