Is anyone else having my problems? When I am manually creating a query, I have a delay after stretching or reducing the size of controls (labels and text boxes) before I can do any more work. I have run repair Office 2010 but it still behaves sluggishly. Forms creation not a problem, just creating basic queries. If I use the query wizard then it seems okay, but if I try to make any changes then I am back to delays again. ??

I didn't think there were "controls" in query design. Are the more than one table in your design? Are the tables all Access?

ok, I still don't recall ever seeing text boxes and labels in query design view.

A bit more detail. I did add Report in thread, but at same time as last answer.
If I go into design view of a report, first there is a delay before the report grid window opens. If I stretch a label and let go, there is a delay before I can go to another label or text box to change that. After the delay, if I alter the size of a label or text box, it does not change immediately, I have to wait some 4 seconds or so before it changes it's size.
I have tried decompiling and compiling the db, but it does not cure the problem. This delay is only in the reports design window, ie form designs, table designs all behave ok. I have found it's in XP that this problem exists. If I go to my other drive partition using Windows 7 then working on the database is perfectly okay. Maybe I have had a corrupted update?

I would make sure the Windows default printer is defined and available locally. You might even want to try set the default to some "Microsoft ... Document" type printer.

Wish I could give you a page full of stars. I made sure my printer was all setup, as default. I then tried opening up the report to print, and it reported it could not find a form (in my report source) Reason being the report was brought in from another DB because I wanted to modify it and use it in this database. As soon as I removed my reference to an unfound form I was then able to move labels and text boxes around easily.
I have spent all day on this thinking I had a problem with XP as on my other partition with Windows 7 it was okay. Many thanks, I was about to reinstall XP and Office.
