Occasionally when i click to go to next/previous record in Access 2000, it will skip records, almost as if the mouse is stuck. it is always random as to how many it will skip. Although it is not a major problem, just more frustrating when updating records. I would be grateful if anyone knows of any fixes or reasons for this.

I am currently running on Windows XP, but the same problem occoured on Windows ME. I never had the problem on Win98 or 2000. There have been no h/w changes

Because you said "almost as if the mouse is stuck", I'm assuming you see Access forms continue to move through records after you hear the click of the mouse button coming up, right?

The only thing I can think of is that there is a delay getting the MouseUp event through Windows to your Access application. This could happen if your computer is very busy processing other tasks. If you have the System Monitor installed (Start Menu|Accessories|System Tools|System Monitor), look at your Processor Usage statistic. If it's running a high percentage when, from your point of view, the computer is waiting for your input, then this is a strong possibility. You should follow this up by posting to the Windows XP forum, since it's not an Access problem.

As an exception to that last statement, if you are familiar with the code in your Access application, then you may know of a long-lasting loop somewhere. Such loops aren't needed very often, but when they are, they should always contain a DoEvents call to prevent this kind of problem. Rick Sprague
