Site to Site VPN: No Connection

I have successfully established a secure tunnel and connection between two office sites using two Cisco 1712 routers. However, when the vpn is up, the remote site is not able to connect to the internet or email. Anyone know why or have any ideas of how to reestablish internet connection while the vpn is up.

There should be an ACL to indicate which traffic is passed through the VPN. What does that look like?
