OK - did a remote firmware upgrade to a SIPI on S8400 and lost the IP settings. Had to go onsite to manually assign the ip, subnet and default gateway.

Now my question is what do this errors mean? They are still in the pbx after the firmware update on the SIPI to 12.

PN 01 IPSV-CTL 30221 2 02/05/13:45 255 1 0 n n

and

PN 01 IPSV-CTL 30370 2 02/05/13:45 255 1 0 n n

THanks as always.

Hi mate,
not 100% sure but it looks like an errore related to the control network.

Can you see all the boards doing a list conf all ?

What is the output if you do a list ip-server interface ?

Cheers

Definityman - its gotten worse...THe customer is having 2 times a day the phones lock up? They have no dial tone and just sit with nobody home. They press a bunch of buttons then 10 seconds later all the keys they pressed are ran through in order.

I wonder if the S8400 is bad or SIPI. Its like the system resources are pausing for up to 10=30 second?

Well,
it seems that the s8400 is loosing the control of the G650.
i'd say the best option is try to replace the SIPI, but before that, verify that the speed of the control lan interface on the s8400 and the network interface on the SIPI card are both setup as 100mb full.
The loose of connection between the 2 cards might be also a problem of speed or duplex mismatch.

Cheers

X2, although I have found setting the SIPI AND the S8400 Ethernet ports to "auto / auto" is more reliable with a back to back crossover ethernet cable, than setting them both to "100MB / Full". seems they negotiation better with auto/auto with a crossover cable. this of course assumes you are using the dedicated CN-A ethernet port for the SIPI, with the short 6 inch crossover cable AVAYA provides.

Hi Mitch672, the autonegotiate is a setting that neither avaya suggests.
It's always strongly recommended to have speed and duplex fixed on the same setting on both sides of the connection, even if you are using a direct connection.

Cheers

yes definityman, I know. The symptom that many clients have had is, the SIPI seems to work, but in the web adminstration, you can't 'see' the serial #'s, nor the IPSI version when you check it. My experience has been, auto/auto works better, than locking both sides to 100MB/Full, no matter how dumb that sounds. This is my personal experience with S8400's/SIPI's.

ive found putting a 6' patch cord in place of the little one Avaya gives you helps. maybe the same reason why some of our cable testers fail on testing very short cords, theres not enough resistance on the cable.
