SIP PRI trunk 1

HI,
Well i am new to SIP trunks, and worst is i need to configure the same outside the country.
they have ordered SIP PRI of 10 trunks. and they have provided rj45 connection, from where they have inserted to one router and marked one of the port to be connected to PBX LAN.
i havent doent the config before, so inserted this cable to LAN 2 of my IP office. they had given this IP address 192.168.10.X which i put for LAN 2 and connected the same,
i am able to ping this IP from LAN 1
..Please let me know if m correct, or do i need more info..
i ahve configured SIP line the same way i used to confiure for sip trunks between two systems...

Usually we get paid to do this kind of stuff and we like to keep it that way.
So call a local Avaya reseller to help you.

hahaha... well m in the same business, but when it comes to taking a remote to resolve it.. u never know what the other service provider is upto...please if u can help

Installing a SIP trunk is not a straight forward process, there are too many parameters which must be set correctly:
First is customers network to configure, they either have a shared internet connection for data and voip or they have a separate internet connection for voip.
In the first case they must configure the router/firewall to enable IP traffic between IP Office and the SIP provider and vice versa either with port forwarding for the incoming traffic or use a DMZ but NEVER EVER use the IP Office in a DMZ(some IT guys do that as it is the easiest thing to do if you have no knowledge of IP routing)
In the second case they must do the same for the second internet connection the only difference is that in case 1 you connect IP Office only to LAN1(the shared internet connection) and create a route to the SIP Provider IP Address using the gateway of that LAN.
And for the separate internet connection connect it to LAN2 of IP Office and add iproutes to the SIP provider over LAN2.

Then in SSA check if you can ping the SIP Provider OP addresses and add a SIP line, fill in the URI adn/or the IP Address of the provider, do not select LAN1 or LAN2 in the SIP Transport page as you are using IP routing.
Complete the rest of ths SIP line programming ( URI, SIP Credentials etc) and reboot IP Office.
If lucky the SIP trunk registers with the provider (check in SSA).
If not play around with the settings, call the provider and ask what they get and if nothing else works come back here.

This is not a SIP install but a PRI install you will need a PRI card for this. If you are explaining this correctly. You said "they have ordered SIP PRI of 10 trunks. and they have provided rj45 connection" This would mean you plug a PRI crossover cable into the IAD and then to the IPO. Program as PRI.

If its SIP presented as PRI then yes you just need to configure the system as per a normal ISDN30/24 line.

Just had one of these go live in Germany today and standard line config bought it straight up.

Have to agree this may be sip connected to a converter to give out PRI protocol .

In the Uk we use an ubigate by BT.

This converts the sip trunks and presents the Pri via a rj45 port.

Ubigate is a Samsung product, probably with a Bt badge and mark up slapped on when you've seen it

In our country some SIP providers deliver a WAN/LAN router and call it a SIP PRI box as it is actually a ethernet connection to their network and must be programmed and connected as a SIP trunk in IP Office.
The first time a customer who asked us to connect the above mentioned line he ordered I went there with a PRI card but it turned out I needed SIP licenses and a VCM/Combo Card.

yes umfortunate part was , my colleague did visit the country and during that time there was no one available from service provider..
Now that they have installed it... all we have is a normal rj 45 connection box.. from there the cable is going to one router.. and in front of router they have marked a rj45 port to be connection to PBX LAN ( this marking has been done by them on one of the port).
What i did was to ask someone to connect a rj45 cable from this port to WAN port of Ip office.

So i am able to ping this WAN ip from IP office.

then i programmed as a normal SIP trunk to dial outside... when they press 9 nothing happens.. it says incompatable..

90N/0N"@192.168.X.X" ( ip of the lan1 and also i tried IP of LAN2)
i have given only one ip route that is the gateway of the network, as i need to connect this system remotely to another site..
