SIP Feature Buttons

In my lab I have a 9608 working with SIP through Session manager / System Manager 6.3

I have so far been unable to add any "feature buttons" to the phone. I have read various articles stating to edit it via System Manager under user management but this makes no difference. On the phone I have a exclamation mark in the top left corner. From an avaya article I read, this states that the PPM data is not downloading correctly and to fix I need to set the public unknown numbering correctly and the application originating and terminating sequences.

I am sure my pub unknown is set correctly, but I am not sure what to do for the application sequences. I have added an application in system manager and applied it to the user profile, but the phone still does not make any changes. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Also do not see any PPM data on the traceSM.

You need to enable the PPM level trace on traceSM - the default is SIP messages only.

Typically, you need to have the public or private table populated - depending on the trunk type to SM because the phone subscribes to it's state and CM responds with a message from that extension - if it isn't in the public or private table, the phone never gets it.

Presumably you're keeping it simple with 1 domain for your SIP sig groups, SM, phones etc.

In the "user management" part, you need to have the user have a SM profile and application sequence to the CM and as well have a CM endpoint profile in system manager.

The application sequence forces calls SM receives for that number to proxy thru CM first. So, when you get your 5th simultaneous call, SM still invokes the app sequence to CM, CM sees all your call-appr keys are used and decides this call should cover to voicemail.

The aspect of the CM endpoint profile in your user profile is what has System Manager tell Session Manager that this guy has this station and this set of keys assigned to him. When that guy registers, send him that information in his PPM.

Does that help a bit?

I have a SM profile configured and in it I also have added the application sequences that I created. I followed avaya mentor video on how to create sequences, but I think I may still be doing it wrong.

This problem is resolved - This was possibly due to a TLS certificate error or the server needed to be rebooted. Still not sure what one was the cause. Will do more testing to figure out.
