Single Instance Storage

I need to move all mailboxes over from one server to another. I have created the other server and are about to move them, but will i lose all the single instance storage during this process. Because using the "Move Mailbox" option in the Exchange tasks screen, i think it just moves mailboxes one after the other doesn't it? If so how could the data move and keep all the SIS?

It may not actually be a problem for me but does seem a bit strange that moving to a new server could increase the database by around 50%.

If i recall correctly, the move mailbox method preserves SIS because the the message ID is preserved. Using Exmerge, on the other hand, would break the SIS.
