Hi, I'm trying to see how web pages that I build would run on a 56k modem. I have high speed and no phone line, so I can't just connect with my dial up modem.

Does any know of software that will do this? I found one called sloppy for OS X but it makes it too slow.

Thanks!

WebSpeed Simulator helps you design more efficient web pages by previewing your web page at the speed of real world dial-up connections. You can avoid designing pages that look great on your LAN but are too slow for the real internet. If you use Flash or Java you can preview how it will load in conjunction with the rest of your site. Errors that might not be visible during design, are readily identified. This saves you design time because you can preview off-line and simulate any connection speed more efficiently.

Most designers only see their web site design at full speed on a company LAN or hard disk. The reality is that real world connections are much slower especially on the other side of the world or on a busy day at peak times. Your customers may be having to wait for 80% of the page and graphics to download before they see anything but a blank page.

WebSpeed Simulator will show you how your web site will look when the Internet is under heavy load. WebSpeed Simulator shows you if your pages load in an unexpected order and can identify poorly optimized graphics and HTML. WebSpeed Simulator lets you adjust the speed of the simulated Internet connection to view the effect of different Internet loads.

Armed with this information you can ask your web site designers to improve and optimize your site so that it will look its best under all Internet conditions.

WebSpeed Simulator can emulate an HTTP server right on your desktop PC. Without uploading to your web server you can vary Internet load conditions with a few simple commands. WebSpeed Simulator can also work with dynamic web sites (e.g. ASP).

This especially useful for Flash and Java applet design allowing you to see how preloading and streaming are working.
