Suppose i have a 2048kbps wan link.If somebody from Telephone exchange (co) changes the bandwidth all of sudden
then how would i know the change of the bandwidth.
What kind of circiut? Frame Relay? Serial? What kind of equipment is connected to the circuit? Do you have any test equipment? Do you own the CSU or does the carrier?
Thanx for ur suggestions so far.E1 is not channelised,no packet drops as well.
I wanted to know just one thing that is there any method or calculation using which we can track the sudden change of the bandwidth.(Done purposely or so)
The change would have to be made on your router as well as the service provider's router. There isn't a 'show' command in the IOS that will show you *capacity* but there are plenty that show usage ('sh interface' for one). In order to reduce the E1 bandwidth, timeslots would have to be removed (i.e. the E1 would have to be channelized and certain channels/timeslots then dropped). The alternative would be to remove the routers and put test equipment on the line. But then, that would likely have to be done on the service provider end as well as your own. I'm not sure if Cisco E1 interfaces respond a a "loop-up" command or not. If they do, you could plug a test set into the line and send a loop-up code, thus allowing you to look at the data rate of the line.
