Hello all,

I have one main form that contains 3 subforms. These subforms are based on one table. Esubform works off different filters to display different sets of data from the same table.

Anyway, here's my problem. Each record on every subform contains a date field and several text fields. On the first subform, I am able to enter in new records and modify existing records. On the other two subforms, I am allowed to modify existing records (both date and text). However, if attempting to add a new record, I am unable to enter in the date and am only able to enter in text.

I've looked over all the options and can't seem to figure out why this is happening. All fields are set "Enabled = Yes" and all forms are set to "Allow Additions = Yes" and "Data Entry = Yes".

Can anyone please help?

Thanks.

it is possible that the way you have the query for the second form is not allowing you to enter in new records because it might create new records in a table other then the one you are attempting to add to. So I would say check oyour control source query

Nedaineum, I looked into your suggestion but it doesn't apply to me. All my subforms are based on queries - so it doesn't make sense that data entry on one subform is allowed, but not on another.

Are you saying that the main form and all three subforms are based on the same table? If so, I can't understand why you are using subforms. If you have 3 subforms based on the same table as the main form, then that is probably the root of the problem.

If the three subforms are not based on the same table as the main form, then it looks like you have some sort of relationship problem.

Is the date field that you cannot update, in a different table from the text fields that you can? Try opening each query independently from the form and check that they are all updatable by adding a new record. If you cannot add a record to each query, then you certainly won't be able to when you use the queries to create subforms.
