Shutdown problem

Using an IBM NetVista 8305-D1U with Windows 2000 Professional, after selecting Start, Shutdown - the computer shuts down but then restarts itself. Ran diagnostics and found no errors - it passed all the hardware tests.

This seemed to be intermittent but now in order to shut the machine down completey, user must hold the button in.

Not a hardware problem accord to diagnostics. Anyone have anything similar?
