hello folks. The last couple of times I have shut down the computer ( Via chipset) it has not powered off but displays a screen of vertical black and orange lines - exactly the colours displayed on the 'it is safe to turn your computer off' screen found on older computers. I then have to turn it off manually. As this is a computer I am setting up for someone else to use, I feel it must be as right as I can get it. Can you give me some ideas on how to deal with it please?

So it did shutdown ok? (presume you've just installed ME from what you said)

What's changed since then?

Is there any other unusual behaviour?

I shut down and rebooted and the problem did not come back. I rebooted again, tried the dial-up again and connected, then came out of that and shut down and it was still ok. I wondered if ranaapp might have something to do with it - but I do not know enough about these things.

Anyway, it has not come back.

thank you for your help wolluf

ps we have two of them ( wollufs) German Shepherds really, great hairy beasties
