shows scratch disk is full

Anyone who uses photoshop on a Mac--- if a dialogue box pops up saying that "cannot save because disk is full"
Is there a way to clean up the scratch disk that is full?
I assigned another scratch disk and that took care of the problem of saving etc. but just wondering how to "clean" the disk that is full.

Hmm... OS 9 I remember this problem but X is a different story. My first step would be to get my hands on a copy of Norton System Works to do a disk defragment. The problem is most likely that you have the space but it's so scattered that Photoshop is seeing only pockets of it. Secondly would be to check the physical size of the disk against what you've used as you may really have a full disk.

In this case, you have to start dumping or moving the stuff you don't need to have on there to another drive or better yet to cd/dvd.

Defrag as kyle says, and you didn't mention what vs of photoshop, but if you are using CS, you need along the lines of 10 gig dedicated to scratch disk. If you have less than that, you might consider a larger HD or a second HD.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Can't vouch for this, but I read that Photoshop will release some scratch space if you make a tiny psd, 3 px by 3 px and save that. I don't know if this was supposed to work on Mac, Windows or both.
