Show really hidden files

Is it possible to have files still hidden even after you check it to show hidden files?

Yes. Directly underneath that checkbox are two more. Hide extensions for known file types, and Hide protected operating system files. Make sure both of those are unchecked.

excellent....ok...I found the offending folder c:\winnt\installer.......6 gb in some cases. Any thoughts on how to pare this down or remove?

Those are uninstaller files. Leave them be. Try running one of the .msi files and you'll see what I mean.
If you want to shrink the folder, uninstall some proggies

Thanks for the info. Anyone know if failed office updates could be creating duplicate files in the installer folder?

I've seen up to ten copies of the same .msp. Different names but exact same file size and properties. Apparently microsoft is aware.
