Report has the following sections:
RH
PH
GH#1
GH#2
GH#3
Details a (Hidden)
Details b (Hidden)
GF#3
GF#2
GF#1
RF
PF

Details a is a "header" section. It contains the labels for the records returned in Details b. When I double-click GH#3, I want to see:

Details a
Details b record 1
Details b record 2
Details b record 3
Details b record 4

etc. until the end of the page.
Then at the next page of details, do it again with Details a at the top.

I'm getting the following:

Details a
Details b record 1
Details a
Details b record 2
Details a
Details b record 3
Details a
Details b record 4

etc

I know this can be done because I'm modeling this report off of one that does exactly what I want ti make mine do. I can't find what setting would make Details a only print once per page.

Thanks for your help.

Right click on the fields on detail a section, Format(text or field) and check 'Suppress if duplicated. Then under section expert, check 'Suppress empty section' for detail a section.

Create a formula {@all}:

whilereadingrecords;
1

Insert a group on this, set the group to "Repeat group header on each page", and make the group be your group #1. Remove the group name and add your detail_a header fields here. Then format this GH#1 section to "Hide". Be sure that in your report options you have "show all headers on drilldown" checked.

Thanks!
I chose solution 1. that's what my sample report was using, so I chose it for consistency.

Thanks to both of you.

Hmmm. I couldn't get Dana's solution to work during drilldown (column labels appear only on the first page of a set of drilldown pages, instead of all pages), which was why I added my suggestion. I think it would work without drilldown though, since suppress if duplicated allows fields to repeat on new pages (except during drilldown).

Hi,

Lbass is right. I noticed that too.
The complete solution is what lbass proposed, or,insert a second GH3 section, put the header labels there, and in section expert put a formula to suppress when drilldowngrouplevel <> 3, perhaps.
